Step 6. Create a Facebook Group

Now that we have at least 10 members in the club, it's time to start a facebook group.

DID YOU KNOW: Facebook groups have been proven to be more effective than targeted paid ads for converting users to paying clients?

They are very powerful tools, and having your members in a facebook group has a number of benefits:

  1. It is easier to collect important data.
  2. You can run targeted promotions.
  3. It further enforces the "exclusivity" of your club.
  4. Members feel they "belong", which builds trust (with you)
  5. Members can be encouraged to promote you.

The last ones the biggy.

Without going into too much detail, a core ethos at BLOCS is using the natural phenomenon of "Pack Mentality" in order to accomplish our marketing goals.

Members of a group, are more likely to complete given tasks, simply because their peers are completing them - things like promoting you and your club.

So we are going to create a FB group and use pack mentality to help promote your club.

Create your group by following the instructions found here, give it an obvious title such as [Salon Name] Membership and the following description:

A place for Members of the [Salon Name] club; to celebrate being part of our exclusive club, share experiences, post after-service selfies and hair tips, help to shape a better club and be the first to receive special club promotions and events.

It's also important we get the settings for you club correct; make sure you have the group set to PRIVATE but VISIBLE

Plus we need to set some group rules, use ours below as your basis, but expand further if you feel you need to:

  1. Be Kind and Courteous

    We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let's treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required.
  2. No Hate Speech or Bullying

    Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn't allowed..
  3. No Promotions or Spam

    Give more than you take to this group. Self-promotion, spam and irrelevant links aren't allowed unless encouraged by admin.
  4. Respect Everyone's Privacy

    Being part of this group requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. What's shared in the group should stay in the group.

...Now Invite Your Members.

Once your members have joined take the opportunity to start a discussion with them with an open ended question such as:

Who has been in for a club appointment so far? - how did you find it?

OR

Who has been for an appointment recently? - What finish/style did you have?

Try to check in with your group every week with an open question, some other examples of positive ways to engage the members are:

  • Invite members who run small businesses to share their products/services.
  • Announce all promotions  in the group 24 hours before else where (and let them know it)
  • Use the group to cross promote services, such as beauty and Aesthetics.
  • Host exclusive live events like hair demonstrations.
Try to nurture the group, and allow members to remain in - even if they leave your club for any reason, this way they are always seeing reasons why they should rejoin, or enforcing even more benefits to remain a member.
